It’s been a long time since I have written anything here. I’ve been busy busy working on designs, taking care of my little munchkin, hanging out, reading… blah blah blah. So, changing gears I am so excited that MAC Cosmetics finally brought out the Heatherette collection!!!! However, most of the colors I wanted to purchased are sold out!!!! Booooo. I am hoping that they will stock up… soon? That would be nice.

Jared Gold Fashion Show

SO. This past Friday (March 14th) was the Jared Gold Fashion Show at the Union Station in Downtown LA. It was awesome how they shut down the station & set up the stage. Clint Catalyst hosted the event, he is awesome, extremely talented! I use to work with him a few years back. The vibe was cool, there were some celebrities there, but mostly reality TV stars whom I can not name because I don’t know their names, but they looked familiar. Lisa D’ Amato from America’s Top Modeal turn rapper performed she was wearing a crazy wig and a bikini. I did recognize Billy Zane from Titanic and Zoolander as well as Lisa Edelstein who plays Cuddy from House. I went with my brother “TONYMECH” it was nice hanging out with him and his friends. After the show we looked through clothing racks full with Jared Golds amazing line. My generous brother bought me a cute 50′s inspired top. After that we all went to “LA CITA” a bar also in Downtown and then this mommy had to go back home. I use to work at a Boutique in Hollywood where the majority of the merchandise consisted of one-of-a-kind or limited run items. We would either buy or consign items. Depending on the night I would work I would be in charge of pickingh with items we would buy or consign, since I am a sucker for one-of-a-kind stuff so I would rarely reject someones creativity. I love the detail that people put into their work, my favorite items were the jewerly and clothing. My favorite item that I personally purchased was a DEVO bag by Random Nicole made out of old devo records and fabric swatches.

Recently, I discovered a website where you can find just about anything you can think of that’s handmade. Not only that, but if you make things and have not found a way of selling www.etsy.com enables you to do so as well.

So check it out. It’a great place to buy gifts for you, your friends and family.

Last night I went to Nordstrom to look for this L.A.M.B. dress I have been wanting to purchase for the longest time. I think it would go with my figure and it would look good with some fishnets on and my black stilleto BCBG shoes. So I call my hubby and tell him “they don’t have it, I’m so bummed.” The reason why I wanted this dress is because this Saturday night we are going out and I wanted to wear a dress, this dress. Not only that but LA Fashion week is coming up as well. As I was talking to him, I asked what if I get a bag instead. I can always work around the bag. I knew which one I wanted, I just was not sure if they had it. He said: “Go for it.” I was so excited! Our tax return will be coming soon, so it’s ok.

As I approached the handbag department I looked through the L.A.M.B bags and I almost got the Capri Satchel Handbag. I like the size and the green color. I wanted a handbag that pops out with a bright color.

I ended up looking at all of the Marc by Marc Jacobs handbags and I am completly happy with my decision. I love my new handbag!!! I will be wearing this with a jean-high waisted denim skirt, black top, fishnets and stilettos.

Dame “Vivienne Westwood’s” Message to the World

Vivienne Westwood introduced punk fashions to the mainstream world with the help of Malcolm McLaren who was the manager of the Sex Pistols. They opened a shop named “Sex” and that’s where she started her artistic designs. In reality the “Sex Pistols” were a boy band (a punk boy band ) and she was dressing them with her designs which included leather jackets with safety pins, bicycle chains, spiked dog collars, tartan pants, eye makeup (you get the picture). So as soon as the Sex Pistols started playing shows people started incorporating the “punk style” and rebelling against the world. How can you tell your government you want to rebel and don’t give a crap about them? Anarchy. But ofcourse that’s too long of a world to write on your ripped jeans. So she invented the slashed “A” symbol for anarchy.

Since then, 30 plus years later she has always used her designs to deliver a message. She once launched a limited design tee-shirt for a British civil rights groups that said: “I AM NOT A TERRORIST, please don’t arrest me.” I think that she is amazing and she is using her influence in the fashion industry in a positive way.

This year she introduced her Fall 2008 Ready-to-Wear line in Paris with a little help of some 7 and 8 year old students from a school in Nottingham, England. They hand painted most of the pieces in her collection. But first she had to give them inspiration by discussing global warming to them. She asked them to picture a society of jungle-dwelling eco-warriors, and this resulted in a uniform for warriors. I admit most of the pieces I would never wear, but it is very inspiring and it does make me think about how the world might be 20 years from now if we don’t take care of our beautiful planet.

My favorite picks for today.

Dolce & Gabbana feautures longer lenghths with tailoring and “country-like” fabrications, accesories such as scarfs, belts, basically lot’s of 70′s inspired looks. I really like the left piece specially because it has a David Bowie T-shirt.

Dsquared2 added a sexy twist to the typical librarian and teacher look. A fitted pencil skirt with a crisp blazer and ofcourse you can not forget the fishnets with the pumps. I love it! The only thing missing are the glasses.

Karl Lagerfield (who designs for Fendi) featured poufed sleeves, caped coats in lot’s of grey shades. The added belts adds shape and form to these skinny models.

Luisa Beccaria’s collection consisted of silvery whites, blues, greys and purples. My favorite is the dress with the ruffles and the plungy neckline. It’s very inoccent looking, sweet, pretty but sexy at the same time because of the see through fabric.

Pucci is well known for it’s bright patterns. The two favorite picks of mine are great for day-time and night-time wear. Personally I wouldnt wear turtkle neck on the pastel yellow dress I think it’s too much and it steals the detail on the neckline. However, it still looks chic.

Spring Picks

So whats in for this Spring? During Fashion Week we have seen bright colors, florals, shirt dresses, Full-skirt Dresses, Trenchcoats, Blazers, High-Waisted Pants, and Cocktail Shorts. I will be attending LA Fashion Week in March (which I am very excited about). Since it’s LA I doubt I will see a lot of coats, blazers, or high-waisted pants, but I will defenitly let you know how that goes. But for now here are my spring picks.

America needs a Topshop

When I visit England, I must visit Topshop. It’s 100 times better than Forever 21. The clothes are much better in quality, affordable, they have fabulous buyers, you will fall in love with the store. I always purchase items where I know I won’t find here in the states (and most of the stuff you won’t find here) and if you do it will be for double the price. A lot of the fabrics are European unlike the fabrics here. Also, they carry much more accessories, and shoes. Kate Moss has a line that you can only find in Topshop, it mostly consist of jeans, tee, tanks and jackets. Some Topshop’s are 2 stories and those are the ones I like the best because they have more of a selection. H & M was brought here from the UK not too long ago so hopefully Topshop will be here soon. I can’t wait until I visit late this year. If for some reason you go the UK let me tell you that the dollar exchange to pounds suck !!! So save double. If you find a £50 pound coat it’s actually will cost you $100+. I remember one time exchanging $100 and I received half of that in pounds, England is very expensive country for an American to visit right now.
